Memories of Food By: Aaron Brown
Food is a big deal in China. Every meal needs to be made with the utmost precision. Every detail counts and each meal turns out more beautiful than can be imagined. Each food item that is brought out and put on the table is like a piece of art that belongs in a museum. For example, watermelon is sometimes seen carved into a phoenix.
The meals were wonderful in China. Many people are probably thinking that there will be a drastic difference but there isn’t; the food is just prepared differently sometimes. If you’re a picky eater like me, you don’t have to worry; I still tried many different foods in China that I would have never thought of trying before like frog legs, squid, and bamboo and I loved them.
There are so many different types of food in China that no one should have a problem finding something that they like. There is chicken, pork, beef, frog legs, fish, shrimp, and others for meat and fish. There are many different fruit and vegetables such as lotus seeds, carrots, corn, apples, watermelon, grapes, plums and other foods like back here in Canada. They have many things that we have in Canada such as milk, ice cream, KFC, Pizza Hut, and McDonald’s. Although they do have many things that we have in Canada and you might want to eat only stuff you have had before, I encourage everyone to eat and try new things because you never know if you might find something new that you like.
