Mr. Craig

Mr. Craig teaches the art class in Global Perspectives. He is a very unique teacher who is very supportive of broadening students’ creativity. This uniqueness is something that cannot be explained with words, but rather something that must be seen and felt first hand. This years Global students were very lucky in that they had the opportunity to be in his last Global class before his retirement. In his class, Mr. Craig creates an atmosphere which makes students feel as though “hidden” messages, which will become useful later in life, are floating amongst his insightful teachings. While arming the students with weapons of logic, data, and flexibility of the mind, Mr. Craig always manages to slip in very dry and subtle humour.
In this year’s Global Perspectives, Mr. Craig challenged the students in many ways. Perhaps the biggest one was the life-size wooden people (representing one of the 14 issues) the students were required to build. This major project required the students to use their spatial intelligence, mathematical intelligence, and of course, creativity. The students also had to make sure their sculpture “morphed into nature” by using recyclable material.
